FOOD SUBSTITUTIONS
Since phenylalanine and tyrosine are essential for the body, bread group foods (such as bread, flour, pasta, rice), vegetables and fruits can be used in diet therapy as permitted by the physician and dietician.
Remember that the type of the disease may be different in each individual, therefore the content of dietary treatment applied in these children may vary. The dietician provides information on the types and amount of nutrients allowed to be included in the diet.
SPECIAL LOW-PROTEIN FOOD
Since the diet therapy is highly restricted, in order to meet the energy requirement, foods with low protein content should provide rich taste and variety in the diet of these patients. Various recipes have been developed for the preparation of these foods.
